In the 1970-80's a whimsical 'presence' nudged its way unobtrusively onto the Quebec cultural scene. . . sardonic letters to the editor appeared in the English papers, stickers sporting a pink pig despoiling flowers were posted here and there; a fictional 'superdog' painted in the technique of the old masters was entered in a juried exhibition, etc., etc.
I was never able to uncover the artist/writer's background, nor his/her artistic purpose. My husband (Jim) met with some success however (encouraging the artist in this or that venture); still the true identity of Dr. Andrew G. Fleshman remains a mystery.
Over the years Jim acquired various letters and art work. Some are inspired fun, some mischievous - almost all immensely enjoyable. It has given us much pleasure to assemble this exhibition... Come & see it, browse, speculate...
